In July 2013, Mathew was born unexpectedly at only 23 weeks gestation. He was a mere 450 grams. Smaller than an adults hand, he was not expected to survive. During this scary time, Mathew's Mom, Cindy, stayed at Jeneece Place.

After only 9 days, Mom and Baby were airlifted to BC Children's Hospital. The prognosis was dire. We hoped for the best for them.

There are lots of little ones enjoying Jeneece Place these days. This may sound like a strange thing to write, but the truth is that many times there are very few or no children staying at the house...they are in hospital and their parents are here. So it's a delight to see so many families enjoying their meals together at family tables in the dining room, lots of kids playing in the games room and in the arts and crafts room, and great use being made of the pedal cars outside!

We had such an awesome time cooking for the families at JP.  Even Jeneece and Nick helped with the prep of the meal.  Families joined in to help with last minute preparations and getting the food out hot.

We all shared a few moments of fun, interesting conversation with some good laughs in there too.  I have to say this has been one of the most memorable and rewarding Thanksgivings I have ever had.

Thanks to all those families at the house it was an honor serving you.  May you all be home very soon.

Summer is slowly turning into autumn and Jeneece Place is taking full advantage! We've had lots of seasonal produce available for guests from stores and gardens. Apples have been especially plentiful and have been used in some delicious apple crisps. The sunflowers out front are blooming even as the leaves on the trees surrounding the house are turning red, yellow, and gold. Some of the nights have even been cold enough to turn on the fireplace! We are certainly ready for fall!
